a poem by matsuo basho

A monk sips morning tea,
it's quiet,
the chrysanthemum's flowering.

way overdue

I read this morning that marriage licenses are being granted to same-sex couples in some places in Alabama.  I know the Supreme Court is going to being ruling broadly on the issue before too long--this spring and summer, I think.  And it seems the court will support the right at the federal level for folks to get married regardless of their sexuality.  Let's hope so.  While the right to marry doesn't represent the final obstacle to equality, it sure is a big step in a movement towards it.

Thank goodness.  Gives me more faith in humanity.

Also...I just want to say that it's great the Supreme Court has finally agreed to hear cases representing this issue, but it is LGBTQ individuals, couples, families, groups, and their allies that have made this a reality.

tires on the pavement in the rain

I am listening to sad songs.  I'd like a bottle of wine.

I'd like to be home.
